Cabo San Lucas is located on the southern
tip of the Baja peninsula known as "Land's End" which separates
the wild and relentless Pacific ocean and the serenity and placidity of the Sea
of Cortez. Once a quite, small fishing village, Cabo San Lucas is now one of the
top rated resort areas in the world and
is one of the top three requested vacation destinations in Mexico. It is also
the fastest growing resort area in all of Mexico. So, no longer just a
fishing village but one of the "Good Time Capitals" of the
world ...... and getting better with each sun
filled day. See annual average temperatures
Cabo
San Lucas has a large concentration of stores, shops, boutiques, art
galleries, superb restaurants,
infamous and not so infamous night clubs as well as being a premier golf
destination with championship courses designed by such greats as Jack
Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones II and Roy Dye. |
All
courses have fairways and greens that overview the Sea of Cortez and the Cabo Del Sol Ocean Course is
listed in the top 100 courses in the world by Golf Magazine. Jack
Nicklaus calls the Ocean course "the best
piece of golf property on earth" and has also been quoted as saying of
the Cabo del Sol course as "the three best finishing holes in
golf." |
The "Senior Slam" is held and televised in Los Cabos every year and rotates selected golf courses each day.
Cabo San Lucas is renowned for it's 5 Star, Gold Crown and Gran Turismo rated resorts but there are also less expensive accommodations off the beach in both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo, a quaint Mexican colonial village founded in 1730, located just up the road towards the airport and, certainly, worth a visit for shopping or lunch. Also, the timeshare rental weeks found on this site and others offer most all of the world class resort accommodation suites at substantial discounts. Well worth your time to search out.
The world's richest Bill Fishing Tournament, The
Bisbee's Black and Blue, is held in the warm waters off Cabo San Lucas during October. The waters off
Los Cabos are noted as some of the best sport fishing in the world and Cabo has
a "catch and release" policy to insure continued world-class fishing
in the area.
Striped
marlin are more than fun to catch and are plentiful during most of the year
in the area. Charters are available at reasonable prices at all of the resorts
and Marina as well as off the web. Be careful here, however, do not purchase
from individual vendors at the Marina or off the street. Use only reputable
businesses to confirm any fishing or tour excursions.
Need more? How about a full array of water-sports,
surfing, parasailing,
ski jets, catamarans, snorkeling or diving to the underwater sand-falls
(a 90 foot dive noted and documented by Jacque Cousteau that drops over
an amazing 1200 feet) Visibility ranges from +/- 50 feet in the winter to over
100 feet in the summer months so these are quality dives and snorkeling
excursions. Try the glass bottom boat tours to Lover's Beach, go whale
watching or explore miles of desert hiking trails or, if you are
really energetic, climb a 7,000 foot mountain in the La Laguna Mountains
just a short distance from town.
No shortage of things to do on the peninsula known as The Baja ..... and plenty of equipment rentals and tour guides to keep you going. More questions? Drop us an e-mail, we would be happy to help acquaint you with the wonders of this lush desert oasis.
